Each year the Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) conducts a survey to
evaluate the effect of certification on the general compensation of coders throughout the United States.
The results of the most recent survey, published in November of 2005, indicate that in general,
Certification plays a significant role in the Coder's ability to attain a higher salary level. Education and
experience also help to increase the Coder's yearly pay.
